Food & Drink

Fort Defiance

Fort Defiance is the quintessential home away from home for their long time Red Hook patrons. Owner St. John Frizell’s bar and cafe is so loved, in fact, that after it was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy the neighborhood rallied together to such an extent that its rebirth has become culinary folklore. Frizell will be running the bar at Art on Paper, and the menu will be not without deep inspiration. Frizell looks to Charles H. Baker Jr., bon vivant and drinking companion of Ernest Hemingway, and his book, The Gentleman’s Companion, published in 1939, and has even published an essay on Baker’s life in the literary magazine Oxford American. At the bar at Art on Paper you’ll find odes to Baker as well as new classics from Frizzell like the his White Zombie, which recently appeared on Thrillist’s “22 Drinks to Try Before You Die.”

Stand Coffee

Stand Coffee curates, tinkers with, and serves an ever-changing collection of specialty coffees from the world's best roasters. Stand is the official coffee provider for Brooklyn Flea's Smorgasburg, Central Park's Summer Stage Concert Series, and, of course, Art Market Productions. At Art on Paper, they’ll be serving coffees from Cafe Grumpy, Cafe Integral, and Lofted Coffee from their newly built espresso bar. They’ll also be bringing pastries from Ovenly and chocolate from Fine & Raw and Raaka Chocolate.

CoCo & Co founders Luke and Yair will be serving iced-cold cracked coconuts, both virgin and otherwise.
